AFF

Owner / manual + automatic instructor / instructor trainer

Over the past 2 decades in the driving instruction industry, my passion and skills have grown and developed. I started as an instructor with other franchises and after achieving a grade ‘A’, I started training instructors. This helped me to build a network of talented instructors in the area. 17 years ago (in 2008) I launched Aff’s School of Motoring so that I could share my passion with like-minded instructors and provide high quality training and driving lessons across the south east. I have always loved helping others to grow and aim to tailor lessons to make learning effective and enjoyable. No matter what your abilities, needs or preferences we will help you achieve your driving goals.

Darren

Senior INSTRUCTOR- automatic

A passionate and experienced driver, I bring a wealth of knowledge from both the business world and the road. After a long career in financial services, I spent 12 years running my own successful haulage company before deciding to pursue my long-standing interest in driver training. Having taught both of my sons to drive, I discovered a real enthusiasm for coaching and guiding new drivers. This, combined with my background in communication and leadership, made the transition to a professional driving instructor a natural one.

Outside of work, I’ve always had a love for motorbikes, skiing, and fitness. A former amateur boxer, I also spent time at stage school in my younger years—both of which helped shape my confident and engaging approach to teaching. My goal is to make learning to drive a positive, rewarding experience, using patience, humour, and a steady hand to help students gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

Zara

Manual INSTRUCTOR

Being the first one to learn driving amongst my peer group I remember the freedom and excitement it gave me. It also meant my friends looked up to me a lot for guidance and help with learning to drive. I have encouraged people around me from anxious to the confused driver, and sat next to a few people who would go out to practice driving. It only made sense to take this as a full career, and here I am. It brings me great joy to get people on the road and encourage them to be a safe driver, and see them become great at maneuvering cars in various road structures. Joining Aff’s school of motoring meant I gained the confidence, structure, and support and give a life time skill.

David

Manual INSTRUCTOR

David obtained a degree from the University of London and then trained to become a teacher of sport and history. He became director of physical education after a number of years teaching at a grammar school in Surrey. He then went onto pursue a commercial career setting up a headhunting business where he he employed over 30 people. When his daughter turned 17 and wanted to learn to drive he struggled to find the right instructor and eventually managed to help her through her test. This inspired him to become a driving instructor and thoroughly enjoys taking students through their driving journey. He is very patient and calm and strives to ensure every student ends up as a safe and highly competent driver. The thrill of students passing their test in that life changing moment is such a great inspiration.

Musa

Automatic instructor

Having previously run a successful family business, I developed strong people skills and a natural ability to guide and support others—qualities that now serve me well as a driving instructor. My passion for driving, combined with a deep understanding of road procedures, led me to make the career switch, and I haven’t looked back since. I take pride in creating a relaxed, friendly learning environment where students feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel.

Teaching is more than just a job for me; it’s about empowering learners with the skills they need to drive safely and independently for life. I bring patience, encouragement, and a genuine enthusiasm for helping students succeed. Outside of work, I enjoy football and spending time with my family, but you’ll often find me talking about cars and road safety—because for me, driving isn’t just a skill, it’s a passion.

Eric

Senior instructor - Manual

With years of experience as a driving instructor, I’ve worked with several major franchises before joining the team in 2021. Throughout my career, I’ve helped countless learners gain confidence on the road, and my passion for high-quality instruction has only grown stronger over the years.

As a senior instructor, I take pride in maintaining the highest standards of teaching, achieving a Grade A on my latest check test. This accomplishment has allowed me to take on a new role within the instructor training team, where I now support and mentor future instructors alongside coaching my regular students. Whether working with learners or fellow instructors, my goal is always the same—to create safe, skilled, and confident drivers for life.
